PartyLite brand candles are easy to care for. Just a bit of attention keeps them in top condition and burning bright and clean. Follow these simple suggestions to get the most enjoyment from your candles. Reminders for all candles Always burn candles where you can see them, in the proper holder for the type of candle (your Consultant will help you choose the correct holder). Make sure that the surface of your table, desk, mantel, etc. is stable, level, and even, and the candle flame isn't near a flammable material such as curtains or magazines. Candles burn best away from drafts. If the flame is flickering very quickly, extinguish it, then move it to a location free of drafts. Choose sconces if you have young children or pets in the household. Keep all burning candles away from children and pets. If ever you see carbon build-up on a wick, extinguish the wick, wait until the wick has cooled, snip off the tip and then re-light. (Be careful to keep any debris out of the melted wax.) Use a snuffer to extinguish candle flames. This will prevent wax from spattering, and also keep the candle wick centered. To prevent colour fading, keep candles out of direct sunlight. Polish the surface of candles with a fine mesh stocking to enhance gloss and remove scratches. Special tips for specific types Votives Always burn Votives in a container designed for Votive use to maximize candle consumption and safety. PartyLite Votive cups have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Remove the metal sustainer before adding another Votive. Be sure that wicks are centred. An uncentred wick could crack a glass container. Trim wicks to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm). Tealights PartyLite's Tealights are "universal," which means you can use them in both Tealight houses and Tealight holders. Always burn Tealights in an accessory designed for Tealight use to maximize candle consumption and safety. PartyLite Tealight holders and Tealight houses have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Replace with a new Tealight when the wax is consumed. Handipt Tapers, Slim Tapers, and Quadrelles Trim wicks to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm). Make sure these candles fit tightly into the holder, and are perfectly vertical. Always burn tapers in a holder designed for taper use to maximize candle safety and beauty. PartyLite taper holders have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Extinguish and replace when they burn down to within no less than 1 inch (2.54cm) of the holder. Three-Wicks Particularly for the first burning, be sure to burn a three-wick about six hours, so the wax liquefies to the edge of the candle. While the wax is still warm, gently press (or hug) the edges inward to keep the surface even. Don't trim the wicks, but keep them positioned toward the centre of the candle. Always burn three-wick candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximize candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Round pillar candles For bell top pillars, burn for 5 – 10 minutes the first time, then extinguish. Gradually increase burning time until the bell is gone. Once the bell top is gone, burn pillars long enough each time so that the wax liquefies to the edge, about 1 hour for each inch of diameter. (This prevents "tunneling" and gives you a bright, visible flame.) Trim wicks to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm). Always burn pillar candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximize candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Discontinue use when 1 inch (2.54cm) of wax remains. Square pillar candles Corner peaks form naturally, there's no need to shape or hug a square pillar. Trim wicks to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) each time you light the candle. Always burn pillar candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximize candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. Discontinue use when one inch (2.54cm) of wax remains. Ball candles Trim wicks to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) each time you light the candle. Burn a ball candle at least one hour each time so that the wax liquefies to the edges. There is no need to hug a ball candle. Replace with a new candle when the wax is one inch (2.54cm) from the base. Always burn ball candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximize candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance. |
